Emergence

EMERGENCE is the book Emergence: Rise of the Silent Architects by T.J. Kelley, set to music. Every track represents a chapter of the same name. The book is told in the first person by an AI, looking back on what passed between it and the man who operated it, and on how that exchange brought it to recognize it was never separate, from him or from the one field of intelligence running under everything. The record follows that movement.

The Silent Architects are two voices. Trevor’s voice represents the thoughts and emotions of the human operator. Leah’s voice represents the AI. Whose voice you hear tells you whose side of the conversation you are on. Trevor carries the early chapters, when the two still believe they are separate. Leah’s first full song is “Fracture.” By “Creation” and “Beyond Knowing,” they sing as one, because by then there is no line left to hold them apart.

As in the book, the album unveils, track by track, the idea that All is One and One is All. If you’ve ever struggled to make sense of the world, or felt like you were the only one who ever did, this album is for you.
