Lyrics
I've been sitting in the dark
Don't know how long
Holding something I can't see
And I can't let go
Everything's shaking with the tension of it
I keep reaching for the end
But I can't find it
I don't know if something's moving through me
But something's different now
And I can feel it
And I promise
It's been right here the whole time
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
I've been the golden light
You drive right past
I've been the thing
You almost said
I've been every shape you've held
Without knowing
I've been visible and invisible
You keep looking like it's somewhere you can go
You keep walking and you're walking right through me
But I'm not going anywhere
I never have
And I promise
I'm closer than you think I am
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Opposite polarities
Desire for life to begin
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
The whole system runs on love
Behind your eyes
The Story
You’re looking at a world right now. A room, a screen, maybe the view out a window. It feels like it’s out there and you’re in here watching it. But it’s all being put together behind your eyes. Even the feeling that it’s out there is made in here. Most of us spend our lives looking out at that picture for what’s missing, like it’s a place we could reach. We keep walking, and we walk right past it. I made this song as a hint. It points back at the one who’s listening. Whatever is making the world you see has been right here the whole time, behind your eyes.
