1Abstract

We make every song over many rounds with an AI music app. In each round we write what we want to hear, the app plays back what it made, and we listen. Then we change the words or the settings and try again. When one version is right, we master it for streaming. This song took 2 rounds and 3 renders. A render is one full version of the song the app plays back, and one round can return more than one. The charts below call each round a submission, one for every time we sent the app a prompt. We wrote the style prompt, which describes the sound, 2 ways and the lyrics 2 ways before we kept one render.

The song was made in Suno v5. The delivered master measures −12.09 LUFS integrated. Its true peak is −3.78 dBTP, and every streaming decode measured stays under the −0.50 dBTP ceiling. Loudness range is 4.4 LU.

Consciousness trapped in / expressed through the body. The body as both prison and instrument. You saw the projection, now you feel the cage. But the cage is also the dance floor. BPM: 130 - Key: G# minor

Glitchy synthwave, hard-hitting EDM, floor filler. Multiple drops. Pre-drop builds feel like the nervous system overloading — all hell breaking loose. Then the drops hit and it's weightless, floating on air. Ehyeh's full vocal arrival: roots reggae cadence riding glitchy synth waves.

Glitchy synthwave, hard-hitting EDM, bass-heavy drops, roots reggae vocal cadence, distorted synth stabs, arpeggiated glitch sequences, sub-bass drops, ethereal pad floats, cyberpunk atmosphere, dancefloor energy, male vocals with Jamaican patois

5Mastering

MasteringThin Veil Records' proprietary mastering process, run on our own machine by an AI agent. The process is model-agnostic; any capable language model can run it. Every value measured by script. Approved by ear before release.
Mastered on2026-10-02
BriefThe brief, as the engineer's report and scripts state it: master from the raw 2-track into the .TJ. lane band (-9.5 +/- 0.5 LUFS-I, true peak at or under -1.0 dBTP), carrying the lane brief "bass felt and the vocals clear" and, as the chain script words the album intent, fusion, big-room, heart-pounding bass, with every setting derived from the track's own measurements. The engineer worked from the raw mix; the stems were measured against it and not used in the master. The dispatch text itself is not on disk. The delivered file is that remaster after album balancing, a head and tail match to the earlier master and one uniform release trim of -1.75 dB. Originally released with an earlier master. The earlier version of this master, built in spring 2026, carried processing aimed at AI-detection models: per-stem phase reconstruction on every stem, an AAC round trip on each stem, and a reference match to a commercial track. Our build record does not fully reconstruct the shipped chain. That work ended on 2026-08-14. This remaster works from the raw Suno mix and carries none of it. Replaced by Audio Swap on 2026-10-02. When checked on 2026-10-30, Apple's and Spotify's previews matched this master.
Figure 2. Codec safety. True peak in dBTP of the delivered file, against the label's file ceiling of −1.00 dBTP, and of each streaming codec's round trip, against the decode ceiling of −0.50 dBTP (the colored lines). 4 of 4 measurements clear their ceiling.

Figure 3. Signal chain, in processing order, as applied to the final render.
  1. Mastering chain, 2026-09-16, run by script on the raw 2-track (48 kHz, 16-bit). Re-running the script on 2026-10-30 reproduced the mastered file sample for sample.
  2. High-pass, 2nd-order Butterworth at 20 Hz, with a clean gain of +5.35 dB.
  3. Peaking filters: +1.5 dB at 115 Hz (Q 1), +1.2 dB at 400 Hz (Q 1.4), -2.0 dB at 600 Hz (Q 1.4), +1.8 dB at 2900 Hz (Q 0.9).
  4. Low-band saturation below 120 Hz: 4x oversampled asymmetric tanh, drive 2.4, bias 0.09, only the added difference kept.
  5. High shelf at 12000 Hz, +2.0 dB (S 0.7).
  6. Tape-style emphasis saturation: 5 kHz emphasis of +/-4 dB, drive 0.55, asymmetry 0.1, 4x oversampled.
  7. Soft clipper at -2.2 dBFS, 0.8 dB knee, 4x oversampled, residual low-passed at 9 kHz; active for 9.1 s.
  8. True-peak limiter: ceiling -2.0 dBTP, 1.5 ms look-ahead, release 40 dB/s. Gain reduction peaks at 1.46 dB; 0.224 s above 1 dB, none above 3 dB.
  9. DC block: zero-phase 2nd-order high-pass at 5 Hz with reflected padding. True-peak safety clip at -1.0 dBTP (4x oversampled, binary-searched): not engaged.
  10. Head: no mute, a 3 ms raised-cosine fade-in. Tail: 450 ms raised-cosine fade to exact zero. TPDF dither to 24-bit (seed 20260916), zero where the fade gain is zero.
  11. The file landed at -9.94 LUFS-I.
  12. Album balancing, 2026-10-01 (script): high shelf at 150 Hz, -0.5 dB (S 1.0), zero-phase, no gain change, TPDF dither to 24-bit. LUFS-I -9.94 to -10.33, true peak -1.96 to -2.03 dBTP.
  13. Head and tail matched to the earlier master, 2026-10-01 (script): the file was aligned to the earlier master by a median lag of 41.4 ms and set to its sample count, then the earlier master's music-band envelope (100 Hz to 1.5 kHz, 50 ms windows every 5 ms), relative to its body, was imposed on the first and last 20 s (full authority to 20 s, raised-cosine ramp over the next 2 s). Gains were limited to -60 dB and +24 dB, boosts were capped so no local peak rose above 0.3 dB under the source's true peak, and digital silence was kept in the first and last 3 s where the earlier master's music band is below -100 dBFS. Quantized to 24-bit by rounding, first and last sample zero.
  14. Release trim, 2026-10-02 (script): one clean linear gain of -1.75 dB on every track of the album (measured -1.750 dB), TPDF dither to 24-bit, first and last sample zero. LUFS-I -10.34 to -12.09, true peak -2.03 to -3.78 dBTP. Every streaming decode of the finished file is at or under -0.5 dBTP.
  15. Delivery, 2026-10-02 (script): written as a 24-bit, 48 kHz WAV with industry INFO tags and a bext chunk and no encoder signature. The audio is bit-exact with the trimmed file, and the delivered file is the one measured here. Re-running the balancing, match, refine and trim scripts on 2026-10-30 reproduced the trimmed files sample for sample.
Table 1. Mastering decisions: each move, what it rests on, and its cost.
MoveBecauseTradeoff
Peaking filters at 115 Hz (+1.5 dB), 400 Hz (+1.2 dB), 600 Hz (-2.0 dB) and 2.9 kHz (+1.8 dB).A dip of -2.4 and -2.3 dB at 111 to 118 Hz, a scoop of -4.3 dB at 396 Hz, a hump of +2.3 to +4.1 dB at 500 to 670 Hz (worst +6.6 dB at 2:28), and the most recessed vocal ratio of its batch (-1.86 dB).A cut of -1.5 dB at 600 Hz left more of the hump; -2.5 dB began to hollow the low mids (-1.39 dB). -2.0 dB matches the measured hump.
Low-band saturation below 120 Hz at drive 2.4.The thinnest low end of its batch (13.8 percent of the energy). The harmonics of the 50 Hz content land at 100 to 300 Hz, which the engineer read as where small speakers reproduce them (an inference; it does not listen), without adding fundamental for the limiter to fight.Drive 2.0 gave a better sub delta (-1.09 dB) but 2.2 dB less low-band harmonic content; 2.8 gave a worse sub delta (-1.44 dB) for more.
Soft clipper at -2.2 dBFS with a 0.8 dB knee takes most of the gain. The track is the flattest of its batch (loudness range 4.11 LU, short-term variance 1.65), so the level had to come from saturation and clipping rather than limiting. The clipper was active for 9.1 s; the limiter peaked at 1.46 dB.
Fade-in of 3 ms, no mute. The head is a cold start, not an artifact. A 12 ms fade removed a mean of 17.6 dB across the first 5 ms; it was rejected and the track re-rendered with 3 ms.3 ms costs 2.2 dB measured at the start.
High shelf of +2.0 dB at 12 kHz, the smallest of its batch. The best-preserved top of its batch (16 to 20 kHz at -50 to -53 dB).
Album balancing: high shelf at 150 Hz, -0.5 dB.A listening note: "there are some songs that sound louder than others though". Measured: +0.51 dB over the body median on the four-proxy headphone mean (the loudest), and +0.95 dB against the earlier album. A high shelf rather than a gain, so the track's already light sub (-2.4 dB against the earlier master) is not lowered further at the joins to Projector and Imagination.
Head and tail matched to the earlier master. The script's stated job is to impose the earlier master's head and tail music envelope, relative to its body, on each remaster.
Release trim of -1.75 dB, the same on all 11 tracks.Gate A, the label's check that every streaming decode sits at or under -0.5 dBTP. The balanced and matched file overshot it: 2 of its 3 decodes (Opus 128, Vorbis 96, AAC 256) were above the line, the worst at +0.29 dBTP (our re-measurement of 2026-10-30). The script records the instruction of 2026-10-02: "if it needs to be done, then do it".1.75 dB of loudness. The delivered file measures -12.09 LUFS-I.
Left untouched
No width processing; correlation 0.831 to 0.826 (source to chain output), 0.832 in the delivered file. Mono-below was not needed (sub correlation 0.946).
No low-band compressor or low-band trim: both were rendered and rejected.
No broadband compressor.
No added noise bed, spectral reference matching or codec round trip in the audio path (dither and the head and tail envelope match excepted).
